Yes — the same handheld/fixed scanner reads both 2D QR codes and standard 1D barcodes (like UPC/Code 128), so you can mix label types across different assets or supplies without needing separate hardware.

The scanners we deploy handle typical warehouse and clinic lighting fine and tolerate minor wear. Badly torn or heavily faded labels should be reprinted — regenerating a label from the system takes seconds.

Generating codes

Create the asset or inventory item in the system and it generates a unique code automatically — ready to print on a label immediately, no separate design tool needed.

Yes — for a fresh inventory count or a new shipment of supplies, codes can be generated and printed as a batch rather than one at a time.

Just a unique reference ID — the code itself carries no sensitive data. Scanning it looks up the full record (asset details, stock level, patient/pet visit history) securely in the system, the same way an RFID card does.

Where it's used

Every tagged asset or stock item gets scanned at checkout, return, and stock count — the system updates assignment history and quantities automatically, without manual data entry.

Medical/veterinary supplies carry barcode labels for inventory tracking, while some clinics also use QR/barcode patient or pet IDs alongside or instead of RFID cards for check-in.
